Vrindavan Shakti Peeth is among the 51 Shakti Peeth of Ma Sati. It is said that, the Ringlets of Hair of Maa Sati fell here, when lord Vishnu in order to relieve lord Shiva from grief of losing his wife Sati, used his ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ to incise Maa Sati Body. Then, at the place of fall of Ringlets of Hair, this temple was constructed. Vrindavan Shakti Peeth is situated in Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh, India. Here the idol of Maa Sati is called as ‘Uma’ and the lord Shiva is worshipped as ‘Bhotesh’.
Vrindavan Shakti Peeth is located in one of the Holy city of Hindu culture, Mathura. Mathura is truly a cultural hub, and the ambience there is impeccable. Although the main temple has got lot of renovations over the decades, but the main part of the temple is still intact. From outside you will see the whole temple being made of white marble and huge pillars support the temple. Pillars are made with black stone and presents picturesque views. Just adjacent to the steps that lead to main courtyard, two golden colored lions are standing and they represent the holy animal of Maa Durga.
History of Vrindavan Shakti Peeth
History to this place dates back in the time when it is said that the Ringlets of Hair of Maa Sati fell to this place. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was great personality in Mathura and famous saint too. He was responsible for reviving the lost quintessence of this temple. One such history which is worth mentioning here is that, lord Krishna was born here and he spent his whole childhood here before moving to Dwarka. He is the one who killed Kaliya Naga (Snake) and kept the Govardhan Hill on his little finger to protect people from the furious rain and flood.
