“83” is certainly one of the most awaited films of 2021. The film is based cricket legend Kapil Dev and his 1983 World Cup win as the much celebrated captain of the Indian national cricket team. The sports drama will be released in Hindi and also dubbed in Telegu and Tamil languages. “83” stars Ranveer Singh in the role of Kapil Dev. Actors in other major roles in the movie are Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy  Sandhu, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar, Jiiva, Boman Irani and Deepika Padukone. “83” will be officially released on June 4, 2021.

“83” tells the story of Dev, his foray in national cricket team, his rise to captaincy as well as the historic World Cup win of Indian national cricket team for the first time under his leadership. Padukone, who has also co-produced the film, plays the role of Dev’s wife Romi Dev. Tahir Raj Bhasin will don the role of iconic Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem will play Mohinder Amarnath, Jiiva will essay the character of Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Boman Irani will portray Farokh Engineer. Mali Marshall, son of legendary bowler Malcolm Marshall, has been cast in the film to play the role of his dad. Neena Gupta has portrayed the role of Dev’s mother. The film marks the Hindi debut of Tamil star JIIVA.

Singh has taken extensive training from Dev to make his portrayal as realistic as possible. The other actors who have essayed the role of cricketers have also taken training in a cricket camp under Yashpal Sharma and Balwinder Sandhu.

“83” has been directed by Kabir Khan. The film is jointly produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films as well as Khan himself and Deepika Padukone. The movie is distributed by PVR Pictures and Reliance Entertainment. The music of the film is composed by Pritam.
