“Shamshera” is a Hindi action-adventure movie which will be hitting the floors in July 2020. The film depicts a period drama set in 1800s when India was still under the claws of oppressive British regime. “Shamshera” stars Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role, along with Vaani Kapoor. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of main antagonist in the film. “Shamshera” was first announced in 2018 with a 45-second teaser that also introduced Ranbir Kapoor in the central character of the movie. The movie will be officially released during Bakrid weekend, on 31st July, 2020.
“Shamshera” tells the story of a heroic dacoit tribe who refused to bow down before the torturous British regime in India. Not only that, led by their valiant leader Shamshera, they marched forward to fight for their independence and rights against the English government in the country. Ranbir Kapoor plays a double role here- as Shamshera and his father. Interestingly, it’s for the first time in his career that Kapoor has played a double role. The character of Vaani Kapoor is that of a beautiful dancer who is a much sought-after traveling performer in the film. The actress has taken extensive training in Kathak to play her part in the movie.
A major part of the shooting of the film was carried in Goregaon Film City where the art directors had to build a humungous fort for the movie. It demanded 2 long months of prepping as well as sincere and tireless efforts from as many as 300 workers.
“Shamshera” is directed by Karan Malhotra of “Agneepath”-fame. The movie is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Chopra has also penned the story of the movie. On the other hand, Karan Malhotra and Ekta pathak Malhotra has written the screenplay for “Shamshera”. The music of the film is composed by Mithoon and Ajay-Atul.
