After the “Driver” debacle and “Chhichore” success Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen in “Dil Bechara” which is all set to hit the screens 8 May 2020. This coming-of-age romantic drama is based on John Green’s young adult novel “The Fault In Our Stars”. This romantic flick features Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi. “Dil Bechara” will be the Bollywood debut for Sanjana Sanghi. Saif Ali Khan has also joined the cast of the film. It was previously named as “Kizie Aur Manny” which later got retitled into “Dil Bechara” and is produced by Fox Star Studios. Suprotim Sengupta is behind the screenplay.
The plot of the movie will revolve around the two cancer patients and their love story. The music maestro A.R. Rahman has composed the music of the film and the music rights belong to Sony Music India. The lyrics have been penned down by Amitabh Bhattacharya. This movie once again will remind the audience about the 2014 Hollywood drama “The Fault In Our Stars” starred by Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley. The Hollywood version was largely appreciated and critics were in love with both the actors.
Dil Bechara is directed by Mukesh Chhabra who was accused of sexual harassment during the onset of the #MeToo movement in India, got relieved after Fox Star India’s internal inquiry cleared him from all the allegations. Rajput was also accused by Sanghi of harassment on the sets which has later been resolved. Chhabra also stood for him and stated that no such incident ever took place on sets and requested people not to make any trial on social media and make innocent people suffer for a crime which he never committed. It is only a matter of time to see what this film, which has gone through numerous halts and developments, can do on celluloid come May.
