The remarkable day for the Union of India
After the Independence from British rule, India became a Union of states and hence there was a need of constitution for the newly formed union. The day when Indian constitution came into force 26 January 1950 is celebrated as Republic day every year. It was the day in 1930, Indian National Congress declared Purnaswaraj and hence the name was derived. It is declared as National holiday.
Republic day is mainly celebrated in New Delhi, at the Rajpath. There are Parades takes place at the Rajpath in Delhi showing tribute to India, before President of India. Every state capital also follow a number of government programs on this day.
It is also the day to recollect the struggle faced by the Indian national leaders and the legends of Indian National Congress who offered their lives to make India free from British rule. This day is celebrated to remind the past full of struggle and inspire the next generation to act in such a way that the Independence of this land remain intact.
People mainly youngsters are found wearing Indian flags as badges to their dresses as a tribute to India and it implies that people of India owe a lot to the Indian freedom fighters Like Mahatma Gandhi, etc. On this day the national leaders also pay their tribute to the martyrs of the freedom struggle.
This particular day is celebrated across India, in various organizations like schools, colleges, institutes etc. As it is a National holiday all the outlets and shops remain closed. Normally in schools and colleges, there is always a program to hoist the Flag and the event is associated with many cultural programs, meetings, sessions, etc. At some places, prize distribution or award distribution takes place which is performed as a symbol of honor.
Republic Day 2020 – The Protocol and Chief Guest
As per the protocol, the Prime Minister has to go to Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate and lay his wreath in honour of those soldiers who gave up their lives for the protection of the motherland. From there he will directly reach to Red Fort where the president of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind will hoist the National Flag and the National Anthem will be played. Thereafter there will be a speech from Mr. Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India. There are many important declarations expected during his speech. There can be a declaration of start-up India and Stand Up India, which can offer opportunities for youth.
There is always a guest of nation invited to this day who is usually a head of a state. However, this time it is not yet declared who will be the guest of the nation on this day.
Republic Day 2020 Celebration
After the speech of the Prime Minister, the parade will begin where India will demonstrate its latest weapons such as missiles, planes, tanks and helicopters. All the three armed forces show their skill during the parade and salute the chief of the army staff, Mr President. The parade will be there on the Rajpath. There will be many cultural programs organized and some of them will last for three days also.
In schools and colleges also a lot of activities are done that can inspire the young generation. Officially it is a gazetted holiday and hence all the government offices, banks, agencies and educational institutes are closed. The emergency services will not follow holiday. Private organisations also observe half working day and remain close in the evening. People wish each other and the whole country feels the patriotic fervour on peak. At many places, different competitions such as elocution, quiz, and drama are also held and the winners are awarded with prizes. There are many organisations who arrange various social works on this day and drive the society to a better tomorrow with their activities.
On this day, the country remembers all those who fought against the British rule and made India free as well as republic country. It is a memorable day for every Indian.
