Sanchayika Day: Know how to do small savings
It is considered to be good to save money for any kind of emergency in life. Keeping this in mind The Indian Government decided to make students aware of the importance of saving money and banking facilities, so it started a banking facility known as Sanchayika. Sanchayika is a Sanskrit word which literally means saving. Since then the celebration of this day came to existence. Sanchayika is also known as school banking. The primary motive of the celebration of this day is to develop a habit of saving among students from their childhood that can be helpful to them in future.
Celebrated all over India
Sanchayika Day is observed every year on 15th of September since 1970. It is celebrated amongst students in order to raise awareness regarding saving habits at a very early age. The Directorate of Small Savings, UT Chandigarh organizes the event in Government Colleges. They appeal the students as well as their parents to develop the habit of saving. A survey indicates that around 42 Government schools are participating in this cause. Other than this many other activities are held to celebrate Sanchayika Day.
What is SanchayikaBank
This word is used by the students who run this account for their savings. The purpose is to make student learn about bank, banking facilities, encourage them for saving as well as develop their management skills. To take this facility they need to open a bank account or post office account. Till now around 29 thousand students of college and schools has taken the facility of Sanchayika Scheme. It comes under the national savings. Students of class 8thtill 12th are its depositors. One major concept behind running this scheme is to make the students learn basics about how to run a small set up.
