Celebrate a day in respect to great legend
In the freedom fight of India there have been a number of leaders who sacrificed their lives for the mother land. Subhash Chandra Bose, One of the most popular leader across India have been an ideal and role model for a number of Indians was from the state of west Bengal in India. Birthday of this great legend and a prominent national leader is celebrated as Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti on January 23 every year. He was born in 1897 in Cuttack. He was a brilliant student and had patriotic zeal when he was studying.
Subhash completed his civil services exam in England but resigned to the post as he was much interested in taking part in the freedom movement. Hence, he joined the Indian national congress and fought for India for a number of years together with congress. He was also went to jail nearly 11 times. He even became the President of Indian National Congress party.
As there was a conflict in thoughts and ideology between him and Gandhiji, he decided to leave congress party and formed a separate group which was known as ‘Forward Block’. He continued to fight for the land and rights of Indians in a different way than the congress and other leaders of that time. He went to a number of countries to seek their support for the freedom fight.
In 1939 he launched a mass campaign of civil disobedience and was placed under house arrest which he escaped in the year 1941 and went to Germany. Here he founded the free India centre and created the Indian legion which comprised of 4,500 soldiers who were Indian prisoners of war. But when the Germans invaded Russia he was disappointed and left Germany and reached Japan where he was handed over the reins on the Indian National Army. Bose further strengthened the army and it now consisted of 85,000 troops and Netaji declared war against the British which attacked the British forces in Manipur and Nagaland. But when the Japanese where defeated INA had to retreat. Subhash Chandra Bose was reportedly killed in plane crash on August 18th 1945 while flying to Tokyo. But his body was never found and even today his dearth remains a mystery.

This particular day is celebrated with great admiration and respect towards the legend across India and widely the celebrations are found in West Bengal and Orissa. People celebrate this eve in different organizations like schools, colleges by conducting quiz competitions, essay writings, Painting competitions, cultural programs etc. Even some sessions and meetings are also organized to motivate people by illuminating them with the teachings of Subhash Chandra Bose.
