Chanakya National Law University which is situated in Patna, Bihar was set up in 2006 and it is approved by the Bar Council of India and University Grant Commission. The university includes various UG, PG, and Doctoral courses in law.
Chanakya National Law University Courses
The main courses of the university include BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB(Hons), LLM, Ph.D., D.Phil, LLD. The undergraduate courses required 5 years of completion and the PG course (LLM) is for a one-year duration. The Doctoral program Ph.D. in the full-time mode required 3 years of completion and part-time Ph.D. takes 4 years minimum. The university also provides a post Ph.D. course of a minimum duration of 5 years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission in BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and LLM is decided by the CLET entrance exam
- Admission in Ph.D. courses is granted on the marks obtained in the entrance exam followed by a personal interview and candidates must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate
- Candidates seeking admission in DPhil and LLD are required to clear the entrance exam conducted by the university followed by an interview round. Also, candidates must have a Ph.D. in Law
Scholarship
The university provides scholarships to the students belonging to the ST/SC category and economically weak family background with the help of the Bihar Government. It also provides a Merit cum Means Scholarship to help students with their tuition fees, books, and stationery expenses.

- The university has an Academic and Debating Committee to organize debates, seminars, and other activities.
