IIT Patna was inaugurated in the month of August in 2008 by the Central Government of India. The rank of the IIT Patna was 22nd for engineering colleges in India by NIRF in 2019. The institute operates from its permanent campus which is situated at Bihta at a distance of 30 km from the city Patna. The institute provides UG, PG, and Doctoral level courses in the field of Engineering, Science, and Technology. The institute has 126 faculty members and all of them are Ph.D. holders.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates looking for admission to the UG program need to clear Higher Secondary with a minimum of 75%
- Admission in B.Tech is given on the basis of valid marks in the JEE Advanced
- Admission in M.Tech is granted on the basis of the GATE score
- Admission in Ph.D. is granted on the basis of UGC NET/CSIR NET score followed by the Personal Interview

The institute provides scholarships to students of the Economically Weaker Section who successfully maintain an excellent academic record.

The students are selected every year at the average salary package of 13 Lakh per annum and the highest salary package has touched 38 Lakh per annum.
