In 1968, Calicut University (also called The University of Calicut) was set up in Malappuram, Kerala. It is a state university and recognized by UGC and AICTE. It was placed at 54 positions by NIRF in 2020 and 40 for University by Outlook in 2019. The university campus is large enough and spread over 526.3 acres of land. The university has 9 schools i.e, School of Literature, School of Education, School of Fine Arts, School of Chemical & Physical Sciences, School of Social Sciences, School of Mathematics & Computational Sciences, School of Bioscience, School of Information & Communication Studies, and School of Business Studies. All the UG, PG, and Doctoral programs are provided under these schools.

- The UG courses include BA, B.Sc, B.Tech, BBA, BTA, B.Com, B.Lib.Sc
- The PG courses are MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc, MA, M.Com, M.Lib.Sc
- The other courses are Diploma, Certificate, M.Phil, and Ph.D. in various streams
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission in B.Tech is granted on the basis of the KEAM(Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) entrance exam
- For UG medical courses, candidates should have a valid score in NEET
- For M.Tech, admission is granted on the basis of GATE score
- For MBA, admission is given on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT/KMAT scores
- Admission in Ph.D. and M.Phil is decided by the GATE/ SLET/ CSIR-NET/ UGC-NET/ JRF examination
- Admission in other UG, PG courses is merit base and entrance exam conducted by the university
Scholarship
The Central and State Government supports deserving and financially weak candidates by providing scholarships through their various scholarship schemes. The university also supports economically weak students by encouraging them to participate in scholarship contests conducted by the university.
Other Facilities
The university has a big Library with more than 95,000 books, journals, newspapers, ebooks, periodicals, etc. It also has a well-equipped Computer Lab, Science Instrumentation Center, etc.
