Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology was inaugurated as a deemed university in the year 2007. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the former President of India, was the first chancellor of the IIST. The institute ranked at 33rd position for best engineering institute in 2020 by NIRF. IIST offers various UG, PG, and Doctoral level courses in the field of Space Science, Technology, and Space Applications. The institute is approved & recognized by the University Grant Commission and AICTE
IIST Courses
The courses are given below:
- Full-Time B.Tech for 4 years in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (Avionics) specializations
- M.Tech for 2 years in Thermal & Propulsion, Control Systems, Aerodynamics & Flight Mechanics, RF & Microwave Engineering, Material Science & Technology, Earth System Sciences specializations
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Humanities, Mathematics, Physics specializations
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates seeking admission in B.Tech must have completed 12 class with a minimum of 75% aggregate from a recognized board and then need to crack JEE Main examination
- Admission in M.Tech is permitted on the basis of valid marks in the GATE and candidates must hold a B.Tech degree
- Admission in Ph.D. is allowed on the basis of UGC NET-JRF/ CSIR NET-JRF/ JEST/ GATE score and the personal interview
Placement
In 2019, more than 200 students of B.Tech and M.Tech were selected by the recruiters with the highest salary package of 14 lakh per annum for M.Tech and 8 Lakh per annum for B.Tech students.
