Jharkhand is a natural resources blessed state. In India around 40% of the total natural resources like wood, iron etc. are found in this state only. Due to the presence of thick forests, it has a large biodiversity and lots of spices of animals and birds reside in these forests. Mainly mining activities are main source of revenue for this state. Earlier Jharkhand was part of the state Bihar but in 2000 it was made a separate state due to the reason that this state needed a totally new administration. In terms of agriculture, Jharkhand is not behind any other state, but due to the presence of tribal population, agriculture activities are very limited. Ranchi

Ranchi being the capital of Jharkhand offers some handful sites to visit. The temperature here is a little bit cooler than the rest of the state and reason behind is that, it is situated on a plateau and it is much above the height of sea level. And it makes it much cooler than the rest of the places. An airport is also there in Ranchi which facilities it seamless connectivity with the rest of the India. Tagore and Ranchi Lake is the star attraction of Ranchi. In terms of natural beauty Ranchi is far ahead than any other state. Gonda Hill & Rock Garden is another famous destination in Ranchi.

Parasnath

Parasnath is famous among the Jain pilgrims and it is situated around 179 Km from the Giridih District. This place is named after the 23rd Jain Tirthankara known as ‘Parsvanatha’ and this is the reason why there is so much crowd coming to this place.

Dhanbad

It is among the most important industrial location in India. Dhanbad is famous for its mineral resource reserves scattered in a large area. There are several research institutes operating here and it has now become a famous destination for carrying research on mineral resources. Famous Maithan Dam is situated around 52 Km from Dhanbad.

Jagannathpur Temple & Hill

An old temple of Lord Jaganath is the major source of attraction among the pilgrims. It is similar to the Jaganath temple that is situated in Puri and every year just like as it is done in Puri, here also the chariot of the god is taken from the main temple to the other temple located near to it. This festival attracts a large number of people and it is a must to see event if you are travelling to this part of the state.

Sun Temple

It is situated around 39 Km from the city Ranchi. Most amazing spot of this temple is the chariot that has been built with 18 wheels and around 7 horses in front of it. The sculptures are so vibrant that it looks like a live chariot. This temple is situated at a place which is very rich in natural beauty like mountains, ponds etc.

Dassam Falls and Hundru Fall

Both these falls are situated from a 2 hours drive from Ranchi city. River Kanchi makes these waterfalls and their height of fall can vary from 140 and 320 feet respectively. But tourists are advised not to take bath under these falls because of so much height these falls have.

Maithon

Maithon is famous for its lake near the dam built on the river ‘Barakar’. Major attraction is this lake and a power house which has been underground. Due to the presence of so huge dam, this region is rich in fauna and flora. Those who are fond of boating and fishing activities, and then they can go for various packages available for the same. And if you are a natural loving type of person, then indulge yourself into the bird and deer park built near this dam. There are various Jain temples that have been constructed here, so Jain pilgrims can be seen in large numbers.

Bokaro Steel City

Bokaro is a Public sector steel processing and mining company. Since this company is so big, it is itself a major sport of attraction. Anyone can visit this plant but prior to the permission from the authority of this company.

Massanjore

It is famous for its 2100 feet long dam which was constructed with the help of a Canadian construction company and hence it is called as ‘Canada’ Dam. A very large power house has been built near this dam and anyone can visit this with prior to permission from the authority. Since Massanjore is situated on the border of West Bengal and Jharkhand, you can see bungalows that are built on the other side that is in the state West Bengal.

Jubilee park

It is located in the heart of Jamshedpur city and it is built by Tata Steel Company. It spreads in around 200 acres of land and a properly maintained park. The inauguration of this park was done by the late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. And if you want to get a break from the hectic life of the city, then this park is a nice place to beat your stress out. Not far from this park is an international stadium called as The Keenan Stadium and it is also maintained by the Company ‘Tata Steel’.

Tips for Journey

In terms of connectivity Jharkhand is little backward as compared to other states and the reason behind this anomaly is that most of the part of this state is still under the forest cover. But major cities like Jamshedpur, Ranchi are having all types of modes of transportation. People tend to avoid coming into the season of monsoon and in the month of May and June. In the month of summer hot air blow all across the region and visiting different places a hectic work. Although there is no scarcity of Hotels and guest houses, but their price shoots up in the festive season. So, prior coming to here, have your rooms booked. Due to some internal disturbances in the state, you may have to go through several security checks. Since connectivity to remote areas is weak, having your own means of transportation is a nice option when coming to these areas.
