Even though there are a lot of differences between Christianity and Judaism, the main difference is in the way they treat Jesus and believe in the religion. While Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ was the Messenger of God, Judaism does not agree that Jesus was a Messiah. Not only that, but they also follow different religious practices and holy books. There are a number of differences in the customs as well as spiritual processes also. Let us see some other differences between the two religions.
Christianity
Christianity is followed by nearly 2200 million people all over the world. The identity Christianity is derived from the Greek word “Christos” meaning “Anointed” which refers to Jesus. Jesus Christ was the founder of Christianity during the period of 4 B.C. to 30 A.D. It has three main groups namely Orthodox, Protestant and Roman Catholic. The holy book of Christianity is The Bible and Christians refer to the Bible as the Word of God.
Judaism
Abraham, the first patriarch, born in 1800 B. C is the founder of Judaism, which is followed by nearly 14 million people across the world. They follow the holy book Hebrew Tanakh, which comprises the Hebrew Law, Nevi'im, and Ketuvim. There are several divisions in Judaism like Hasidic, Conservative and Reform Judaism along with few ethnic groups like Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jews. Judaism teaches that Jesus Christ was an ordinary Jew and not a divine person, and his mission is of no relevance.
In this way, Christianity differs a lot from Judaism. While Christianity is spread throughout the world in vast numbers, Judaism is mainly restricted to few regions.
