Agrasen Jayanti

There have been a lot of kings in the ancient India who are still an inspiration for the people of India. Maharaja Agrasen is known to be the first legendary King to establish democratic system of India. Agroha was the place where he was the ruler. His stories are still famous for his nationalism, socialism and non-Violence as well as vision of better future for coming generations.

He did a lot of works for the society and hence people remember him on this day. Every year his Jayanti is celebrated among Agrawal and Agrahari samaj at very large scale with great enthusiasm. He was known to be the best trader of his era. This community takes him as their Kul-pita and follow his principles in personal and business fronts.

Shobhayatras and cultural events

Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti is celebrated every year in the month of October. At many places his birthday is celebrated from one to three days. During these days of celebration people worship Maharaja Agrasen. They also worship goddess Laxmi and pray for health, wealth and prosperity. This day is considered to be important for starting any new business. Various kind of competitions like, drawing, dance, fancy dress, debate, mimicry, bangle decoration, mehendi designing, Jewelry making, flower decorations, salad dressing and many more are held. In houses people make rangolis.

Various kinds of delicious dishes are made at home. People visit each other’s places and give the message of brotherhood. At many places jhanki’s and shobha yatra are taken from temples till a particular destination.In many schools different competitions are organized in the fond memory of the legendary king. All the schools from Agrawal and Agrahari community observe a holiday and do a lot of activities of charity and education.
