Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith is a state-owned government higher education institution that came into existence on 10 Feb 1921 in Varanasi. This UGC recognized university consists of more than 350 affiliated institutions and more than lakh students that make this university one of the largest universities in the state. The university has accredited B+ grades from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The initial name of the university was Kashi Vidyapith and then it was changed to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in 1995. Kashi Vidyapith’s first board of management includes great names of India like Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai, Krishna Kant Malviya, and Purushottam Das Tandon, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta, and Bhagwan Das became the first vice-chancellor. Its faculties include Faculty of Social Work, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science & Technology, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Student Welfare, Faculty of Medical Sciences, M.M.M. Institute of Hindi Journalism, and Institute of Tourism Studies.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates seeking admission in the UG, and PG courses must have completed the 10+2 class and graduated from a UGC recognized university. 
• Admission to all the courses is possible on basis of merit in the entrance exam conducted by the university followed by the counseling
