The Central University of Jammu was set up by the Central Universities Act, 2009 in August 2011. The university is a central university and recognized by the University Grants Commission and approved by AICTE. The Central University of Jammu has collaborated with the Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management (Gwalior), Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (Rajouri), and the Chamber & Commerce Industry. The university started with three PG courses in English, Economics, and Applied Mathematics streams in 2011-2012. Later, more PG courses were added in various streams like Computer Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Educational Studies, Human Resource Management, and Travel & Tourism Management.

- B.Voc in Retail Management, Banking & Financial Services specializations
- B.Sc in Botany, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology subjects, and B.Ed
- Integrated M.Sc in Botany, Zoology, Physics, and Chemistry specializations
- M.Sc in Material Sciences and Technology, and Environmental Sciences streams
- M.Tech in Computer Science & Technology
- Other PG courses are MBA, MA, and M.Ed
- Ph.D. in Economics, Education, Mathematics, National Security Studies, Public Policy, and Public Administration specializations
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission in UG courses is based on the valid marks in CUCET and 10+2 with a minimum of 45%
- Admission in M.Tech is based on GATE score and for all other PG courses, candidates need to clear the CUCET examination
- Admission in Ph.D. is granted on the basis of CUCET/ UGC NET/ SLET/ SET score

In 2020, companies that have visited the university campus are PVR Cinema, HDFC Bank, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Bank of America, BYJU’S, Aditya Birla Group. The highest salary package of 10 Lakh per annum offered by BYJU’S.
