Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University (KSAWU) was known by its older name Karnataka State Women’s University in the past and founded by the government of Karnataka in Vijayapura in 2003  The university has got authorization from the UGC and NAAC. This is the sole university in the state of Karnataka which was initiated to provide higher education for women. It provides a wide range of courses for women in the field of Humanities, Social Science, Science & Technology, Management, Education & Research. The university has also achieved four stars rating by the Karnataka State Universities Rating Framework.

• The UG courses consist of BA, BCA, B.Com, BBA, B.Ed
• MA in Kannada, Hindi, English, Urdu, History, Social Work, Sociology, Journalism & Mass Communication, Political Science
• M.Sc in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Botany, Electronics, Food Processing & Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Chemistry
• MBA for 4 semesters in HR Management, Marketing, Finance
• The other courses are M.Com, M.Phil, & Ph.D

Eligibility Criteria

• Students seeking admission to the UG and PG programs must have passed higher secondary and graduated in relevant streams with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. 
• Admission to MBA is decided on the basis of the marks secured in the CET entrance examination conducted by KEA Bangalore
• Candidates seeking admission to M.Phil & Ph.D. programs need to clear the entrance test by KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) and also have a master’s degree in the relevant field

The training and placement wing is always ready to help and support students in their career building. It organizes various activities like resume writing, mock tests, seminars, group discussion, etc. to improve the interpersonal and professional skills of women.

• The university has a library in order to fulfill the needs and demands of every woman student, researcher, and faculty member. It has 82485 volumes, 300 periodicals, e-books, journals, free Wi-Fi internet.
