Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya situated in Chitrakoot, Satna was the result of efforts made by Padma Vibhushan Nana Ji Deshmukh and its main aim is to provide higher learning facilities in rural areas of India. MGCGV was set up by the Government of MP on February 12, 1991, through an Act (9, 1991). It consists of five faculties i.e, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Rural Development & Business Management, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Science & Environment. The UGC recognized institution provides various courses at UG and PG levels in the field of Arts, Management, Science, Agriculture, Environment, etc.
MGCGV Courses
The main courses are given below:
- Full-Time B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering, Food Technology, Information Technology, Civil Engineering specializations
- B.Voc in Food Processing & Technology, Agriculture operation & Management, and Renewable Energy Management
- B.Sc in Bio, Physics, Maths, Information Technology, Geo
- The other UG courses include B.Com, BBA, BA, BFA, B.J.M.C, Bachelor of Music, B.Lib.I.Sc
- M.Sc in Extension, Soil Science, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Agri Biochemistry, Horticulture, Live Stock Production & Management, Agriculture operation & Management
- The other PG courses include Master of Arts, MFA, M.J.M.C, M.Voc, M.L.I.Sc, Master of Music
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates seeking admission in UG, and PG courses must have completed the higher secondary and graduated from a UGC recognized university.
- Admission to the B.Tech program is decided by the Pre Agricultural Test conducted by the MP Govt. followed by the counseling
- Admission to other UG and PG courses is decided by merit in the entrance exam conducted by the MGCGV
Seat Reservation
The university reserved 80% of seats for the candidates of Madhya Pradesh and the remaining 20% seats for the other states. The institution also reserved 30% seats for the female candidates.
