CSAT stands for Civil services Aptitude Test. The CSAT entrance examination is conducted every year by UPSC or the Union Public Service Commission. CSAT is a part of Civil Services Examination. This competitive examination is conducted every year on a national level and candidates are recruited through this exam for different civil services that belong to the Indian Government. This exam is conducted for different kind of Indian civil services like Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The civil services examination is mainly conducted in two different phases. The first phase consists of preliminary examination and it is comprised of two different objective papers. These objective papers are based upon the Aptitude Test and general Studies. The second phase consists of the main examination and it is comprised with a personality test or the interview and nine essay type papers. It takes about one year for declaring the final results of CSE.
If you are not aware, then I would like to tell you that the Civil services examination or CSE is considered to be one of the toughest entrance examinations. Every year, about 6 to 7 lakhs candidates from all across India apply for the CSE entrance examination and only 3 to 4 lakhs of candidates appear on the final date of examination. All the candidates are required to clear three different stages before getting selected for the civil services of the Indian Government. In stage I, preliminary exam is conducted in the month of May-June and its results are declared in the first half of August. In stage II, the main examination is conducted and the results of this exam are declared in the second week of March. Stage III consists of personality test and it is the final test which takes place in the month of April-May. The final results are declared one day before the next preliminary exam takes place.
