The Central University of Punjab came into existence in 2009 by the Government of India under the Central Universities Act of Parliament. The university consists of 31 departments under 11 Schools that offer academic courses in various streams. The university campus is spread over 37 acres of land and the university is accredited grade 'A' by the NAAC. The university offered courses under PG and Doctoral level programs in several fields of education. Admission to all of these courses is decided on the basis of the national level common entrance test or CUCET(The Central Universities Common Entrance Test). The university is kept at the number #1 position in ranking among the new central universities in 2019 by the MHRD’s NIRF.

- M.A in Economics, Education, Geography, English, Hindi, History, Mass Communication & Journalism, Political Science, Punjabi, and Sociology subjects
- M.Sc in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemical Science, Geology, Environmental Science and Technology, Food Science and Technology, and Life Science streams
- M.Tech in Computer Science & Technology specialization
- MBA in Agribusiness specialization
- M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Sciences(Medicinal Chemistry), and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry) specialization
- Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products, Law, Education, Computational Science, Economic Studies, and many more
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission in M.Tech is decided by the valid marks obtained in the GATE and candidates should have a B.Tech degree with 55% aggregate
- Admission in M.Pharm is granted on the basis of a valid score in GPAT
- Admission in all other PG courses are granted on the basis of CUCET score
- Admission in Ph.D. is decided by CUCET score followed by personal interview
Scholarship
The Scholarship scheme is run by the State or Central Government for the students belonging to the reserved category. The university also offers scholarships to students on the basis of their academic performance.
