Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies is the most prestigious university of the nation for Fisheries sciences that came into existence in the year 2010. The main aim of the university is to provide higher education and conduct research related to fisheries and related subjects. KUFOS is authorized and recognized by the UGC, AICTE, ICAR. The university comprises five schools that are dedicated to providing higher learning of underwater sciences, fisheries, etc.
KUFOS Courses
The courses are given below:
- Full-Time Bachelor of Fisheries Sciences for 4 years
- Full-Time B.Tech for 4 years in Food Science and Technology
- M.F.Sc in Aquatic Environment Management, Fisheries Resource Management, Fish Nutrition & Feed Technology, Fish Processing Technology, Fisheries Engineering
- M.Sc in Marine Biology, Food Science & Technology, Earth Science, Remote Sensing & GIS, Marine Chemistry, Environmental Science
- MBA in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Rural Management, and Fisheries Business Management
- M.Tech in Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Ocean and Coastal Safety Engineering specializations
- The other courses include PG Diploma (Aquarium Science and Technology, Industrial Aquaculture), LLM, and Ph.D
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission to the UG courses is allowed on the basis of the valid marks in the KEAM conducted by CEE Kerala
- Admission to M.Tech is granted on the basis of the obtained marks in the GATE examination
- Admission to MBA is allowed on the basis of the marks secured in the Common Admission Test (CAT) followed by GD, & PI
- For Ph.D., Candidates need to clear the UGC NET/UGC CSIR exam followed by the personal interview
Placement
The students are selected on the designations of scientists, engineers, and other professionals in the public sectors of Fish Processing, Maritime Law, Aqua Culture, Food Technology, etc.
