Kannada University (also popular as Hampi University) is a public university and it was started by the State Government under the Kannada University Act, 1991 in Hampi, Karnataka. The main aim of the university is the advancement, progression, and promotion of the Kannada language, literature, mythos, culture. The university is affiliated with Karnataka Theological Research Institute and recognized by the University Grant Commission. Kannada University provides UG, PG, Diploma, Ph.D., and Integrated level courses in the field of language, literature, arts, etc. The university has three parts of functioning i.e, Administrative, Academic, and Publication departments.

- Bachelor of Arts in Music, Fine Arts, and Visual Arts specializations
- Master of Visual Arts
- Master of Arts in Kannada, History, Sociology
- Master of Journalism and Media Studies
- M.Phil/Ph.D in Kannada Literature Studies, Dravidian Studies, Translation Studies, Folklore Studies, Music & Dance, Visual Arts, etc
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission to the UG and PG courses depends on the merit list in the qualifying examination
- Admission to Ph.D. and M.Phil is decided by the research entrance test conducted by the university. The final selection depends on the personal interview round.
- Candidates seeking admission in the Research programs must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate in the relevant field of specialization.
Faculties
The university consists of 61 teaching staff members and 4 faculties. All of them are highly qualified and 60 members hold Ph.D.
