CBSE NET Exam January 2017 Books & Study Material

CBSE NET can be defined as the qualifying test for those aspiring for research Fellowship and Lectureship in Indian universities or colleges. University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts the examination every year, twice- both in the last Sunday of June & December. The 2017 CBSE NET date has been released and it’s decided to take place on 22-01-2017. Eligibility criteria for CBSE NET

• To qualify for the CBSE NET, the applicant must secure minimum 55 percent marks in Masters or equivalent exams from UGC recognized institutions. The cut off is minimum 50 percent for SC, ST & PWD candidates.
• The applicants who are in the final Masters year or awaiting results of the final Masters exam can also appear for CBSE NET. However, they would only be eligible for NET candidature qualification if they receive 55 percent in their Masters (50 percent for PWD, SC, ST). Any failure here would nullify the NET candidature of the aspirant.
• Ph.D. holders are also eligible to sit for CBSE NET- The good bit here is that a Ph.D. candidate is eligible for 5 percent cut-off relaxation in the Masters aggregate here.

CBSE NET exam comprises of 3 papers, involving 400 marks in aggregate.

1. Lectureship – The NET qualified candidates can apply as professor or lecturers at different universities & management institutions throughout India. The candidate would be escalated to the higher status of a “Professor’ after considerable experience of working as a NET qualified Lecturer.

A NET qualified student is permitted for Junior Research Fellowship or JRF candidature in any of the universities in the country. UGC offers good cash stipend for the JRF qualified candidates  to assist in the research program. Salary

It should be stressed here that the CBSE NET qualified candidates are reported to be paid according to Sixth Pay Commission directives, for teaching & lectureship. The starting salary (approximate) for the NET qualified candidates is more than 20,000 INR.

In regards to the JRF qualified students, the UGC would offer around 8,000 INR for the research activities every month. In case, the student gets up to the SRF or Senior Research Fellowship level, an increased stipend of 9,000 INR would be offered to the student, per month till he/she completes the research.
