Conducted by UGC every year, the NET exam works to choose eligible JRF & lectureship candidates for research work and teaching in various colleges and universities in India. It’s a national level examination and can be applied by students who have completed or is about to complete their Master’s degree. The exam is taken on the last Sundays of June-July and December every year. This time, the CBSE NET 2017 is announced for 22-01-2017. The exam will commence from 9:30 a.m. and would continue till 4:30 p.m. The post here talks about the subjects of CBSE NET 2017.
Subject selection for CBSE NET
- The applicant for CBSE NET would have to choose a single subject for Paper II & Paper III of the examination.
- Only the subject taken by the candidate for Master’s Degree is allowed to be chosen for the CBSE NET examination.
- In case, your Post Graduate level subject is not covered by UGC NET, you can choose a related subject covered by CBSE NET.
Subjects covered by CBSE NET July 2017
- UGC NET 2017 covers 95 subjects in total.
- Humanities including languages, covering all major recognized Indian dialects, even tribal languages like Santhali & Bodo.
- Social Sciences such as History, Sociology, Economics etc.
- Forensic Science
- Environmental Science
- Electronic Science
- Computer Science & Applications.
Subject relaxations
- If the candidate holds Master’s Degree in Geography & carries specialization in the topic of Population Studies, he/she can go for “Population Studies” subject covered by CBSE NET under Code 15. Same applies with Master Degree holders in Statistics & Mathematics.
- If the candidate holds Master’s Degree in Humanities (languages included) & Social Sciences, he or she is eligible to choose “Women Studies” subject under Code 74.
