The district is also bordered by the legendary River Yamuna along with the districts like Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), North East Delhi District and Gautam Buddha Nagar district (Uttar Pradesh). The district is also known as the Trans Yamuna District. The district of East Delhi covers a minimal area of just 64 sq km which is again smaller than many small islands of the Pacific and the Atlantic.
