The district of New Delhi is literally at the centre of the Nation Capital Territory of Delhi. Just like the district is at the centre physically, it is also at the centre when it comes to taking the administrative decisions regarding the Union Territory itself and the Republic of India as well. Delhi was declared as a union territory in the year 1991. The city of Delhi is literally laid out on the building plans of the city of Old Delhi which has served as a capital for many ancient ruling dynasties. The area that is covered by the New Delhi district is as small as 14.7 sq km. The district forms the major significant area of the metropolitan region of the Capital. The district has a population of 249998 individuals to accommodate within itself. The density of population of the district is approximately 6000 individuals per sq km. The district is one of the most busiest regions in India.
