The district of South Delhi is one of the most important of all the districts of the Union Territory of Delhi because of the Defence Colony and the Army Base Camp that is located in the district. The district is an active participant in the administrative decisions of the Union Territory and the Republic of India as well. Like all other districts, Yamuna River borders this district as well. Along with the Yamuna, The district is also bordered by the districts of New Delhi, Faridabad (Haryana), Gurgaon (Haryana) and South West Delhi. The district covers an area of Approximately 250 sq km with a population of 27 lacs individuals approximately living it its boundaries. The population density of the district is about 10935 individuals approximately. The district has a lot of Historical places ornamented to it. The region had its glorious past during the medieval periods when the region was ruled by the Mughals and the Delhi Sultanate.
