Following are some the airports in Uttar Pradesh.
Kanpur Airport (KNU): This airport serves a major city of Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur. Kanpur is primarily an industrial city and hence demands to have a good transportation system. Earlier people used to reach Lucknow to have a flight taken, but with the advent of this one, transportation in terms of air has improved a lot. Many Domestic major fliers have started to operate from here, looking at the feasibility and large passenger base available here. Currently there are two runways here, separate for military and commercial operations. It is located at a height of 124 m above the sea level.
Gorakhpur Airport (GOP): Serves the city of Gorakhpur and other nearby districts. It is a civil enclave that is being used by Air Force and Commercial Flights. There is only one runway here, which has a length of around 2, 743 meters. Currently it is being operated by the Airport Authority of India. This airstrip has been made to be well connected with the other cities. Also, all the modern facilities like food courts, parking etc have been made quite well. Jet Airways have regular operations here.
Agra Airport (AGR): This serves another famous city of Uttar Pradesh, Agra. Agra is majorly famous for Taj Mahal and other monuments that are built here. There is a current proposal of aiming this airstrip, an international one, because of the sheer number of tourist that are coming here. Since this is also used by the Indian Air force, there are two runways here. Air India; currently have its operations till here. Once completed, the international airport will lead to increase in flow of tourist to a greater extent.
Allahabad Airport (IXD): This is also a civil Enclave airport, with facility of commercial flights. Here there is no separate structure for handling the commercial flights. Only a small portion of the airstrip has been dedicated to commercial operations. Around 100 passengers handling capacity is present here. All sorts of facilities like food courts, baggages handling etc are available here. There are two runways and airport is fitted will all sorts of modern landing systems like DVOR or DME.
Lucknow Airport (LKO): Capital city of Uttar Pradesh enjoys the status of being an international airport. Over the years, the renovation and expansion took place to make it a complete airport. In the year 2012, it was given a status of being the international airport. Now current name of this airport is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. Since this is a complete airport, all sorts of facilities for the passengers are available here. All the major airlines have operations till this airstrip.
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS): This serves the Varanasi which is an important holy city for Hindu Culture. Over the years, since number of foreign tourists coming here has increased to several folds, this led to making of this airstrip. Currently, length of runaway is around 2745 meters and has an Asphalt surface. Currently this airstrip is located at a height of 81m, above the sea level. All the major fliers have regular operations till here.
