The students aspiring to seek admission in medical colleges in India should have to sit for the AIPMT examination. The 2016 AIPMT would be conducted in the early quarter of the month of May. CBSE has already released the AIPMT 2016 cut off. It is the minimum percentage that you have to achieve in the AIPMT examination the coming year to qualify for merit list, followed by counseling & admission. It’s to stress here that cut off score in AIPMT depends on various factors – number of candidates, availability of the seats as well as difficulty level of the examination.
The 2016 AIPMT cut off would be different for the general candidates and the candidates from reserved category. As per the directions from CBSE, the cut off for the AIPMT candidates are:
- 50% for general candidates
- 40% for reserved category candidates
- 40% for general (PH) category candidates
- 40% for reserved (PH) category candidates
AIPMT 2016 merit list
The official website of AIPMT will release the merit list of those candidates who have been able to achieve the stated cut off or qualifying marks in the examination. You can check your AIPMT 2016 merit list from www.aipmt.nic.in by June 5, 2016. After the merit list is released, the students have to go through a counseling process to secure admission in the MBBS or BDS course.
It’s to note here that the counseling would be conducted as per your rank in merit list under 15 percent AIQ seats, excluding candidates from the states of J&K, Telengana & Andhra Pradesh.
However, if 2 or more candidates obtain same marks in the AIPMT exam, inter-se-merit of those applicants would be determined by the following list of preference-
- Students achieving higher scores in Biology in the exam
- Students achieving higher scores in Chemistry in the exam
- Students with lesser number of wrong attempted answers in every subject in the examination
- Students who are older would be preferred
