AIPMT is the entry level examination to seek admission in the MBBS & BDS courses in medical colleges in India. CBSE conducts the examination every year. Students who have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry & Biology with 50 percent marks are qualified to apply for the examination. In regards to the age criteria, the applicant must be minimum 17 years of age and not more than 25 years of age to qualify for the AIPMT application. For the reserved category (SC, ST, & OBC) candidates, there is a relaxation of five years in the upper-age limit. Students appearing in the final year of 10+2 examination (with the above mentioned subject combination) are also eligible to apply.
Now, it’s to note here that a lot of students have queries about the number of attempts for AIPMT exam. The AIPMT examination is a tough nut to crack and the students has to receive minimum 50% (general category) or 40% (reserved category) to secure a berth in the MBBS or BDS courses in the country. Not all students are able to crack the exam in the first attempt. However, you won’t need to worry here as the pertinent regulations allow you to attempt up to 3 times in the AIPMT exam. Once, you would be able to appear in your 12th standard and 2 more times after that. Thus, if you are in the final year of your 12th standard in 2016, you are eligible to appear the coming year and another 2 more times after that.
The AIPMT exam 2016 would be conducted on 1st May, 2016. It would be an offline pen & paper based exam where you would have to answer on OMR sheet. The exam duration is 3 hours and you will have 180 questions to answer. Each correct answer will get you 4 marks and 1/4th mark would be deducted on each wrong answer.
