The West Bengal government has introduced the Tuition Waiver Fee Scheme for economical backward & meritorious students of West Bengal for admission in WBJEE participant institutions. These include all the universities or university departments, government colleges & self-financed institutions participating in WBJEE. The selection of applicants under TFW scheme would be based on merit & preference of eligible candidates in 2016 WBJEEM. The post here is a brief on wbjee 2016 scholarship.
Criteria for TFW scheme:
- The candidate must be a domicile of West Bengal & the domicile certificate must be uploaded during the online WBJEE 2016 application.
- The candidate’s family income (from every source) should be lesser to Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
- The candidate has to upload the family income certificate during the application.
The fee waiver provision under the TFW scheme is only applicable to tuition fee. The candidate will need to pay all other fees on his or her own.
Seat availability under TFW scheme
The seat availability rule will vary according to the specific rules of the participating institutions:
- Universities or university departments- seat available under TFW provision would be based on the decision of respective University Authority.
- Government & self-financed Engineering/Technology/Pharma colleges- up to 5 percent of sanctioned seats is available per course on the supernumerary basis (over & above sanctioned seats). The seats won’t be allotted to any other student in case of non-availability of applicants under TFW category.
Notes on income certificate
The income certificate plays a crucial role in deciding a candidate’s eligibility in WBJEE scholarship scheme and hence there are some important points to note here.
The candidate would have to submit Income Certificate according to proforma offered in APPENDIX-X. You have to download it & take a print out. The candidate must get two copies of the certificate which must be properly filled & duly attested by competent authority. You must scan the income certificate to upload during the application process & the original one must be produced during the counseling procedure for verification.
Who can issue income certificate?
For candidates residing in rural parts of the state- BDO or Sub Divisional Officer or District Magistrate or Additional District Magistrate or A Group Gazetted Officer of Central Government or State Government or similar rank.
For candidates residing in urban regions- Assistant Commissioner in city Municipal Corporation or A Group Gazetted Officer of Central Government or State Government or similar rank.
