Koraput

The district of Koraput is one of the most beautiful districts of the state of Orissa. The district is allocated along the hills of the Eastern Ghats. The beauty that the place has is quite different from the harsh climatic conditions that the other parts of the state has. The district came into formation in the year of 1992 with amalgamation of the lands scrapped of from the districts of Malkangiri, Nabarangapur and Rayagada. The district has been ruled by many people in the past. The area predominantly has a lot of mineral resources. The district of Koraput covers a land area of approximately around 8826 sq km with a population of about 13.7 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of approximately 156 people per sq km. The majority of the population of the district is dominated by the tribal population. The district is one of the 250 most backward districts of India with the Naxalism that the district has, as the main reason for this downfall.
