The Hyderabad District of Andhra Pradesh is the smallest district of the state covering only an area of 200 sq km. The district includes the metropolitan section of the city of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Osmania University and Lalguda, with the city of Hyderabad as its main centre. The district is controlled by an IAS offices appointed by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. During the medieval times, the princely state of Hyderabad was ruled by the Nizams and The Mughal Ruler Aurangzeb. The Nizams of Hyderabad were the richest persons during the time of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.According to the census released by the Indian government in the year 2011, the population of Hyderabad was approximately 40 lacs. Since the district is mainly composed of the Metropolitan sectors, Agriculture is not the mode of earning of the people. The district houses a lot of Industries making Hyderabad the upcoming IT city of India. Secunderabad has a large Indian Army base.
