The Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh is located to the northern side of the state. The district’s main administrative centre is the city of Warangal itself. Warangal district is one of the major players in the rebellion that is going through the whole of Andhra Pradesh regarding a complete separate state for Telugu speaking people. The issue is better known as the Telengana issue. Just like many other districts around the river Godavari, Even Warangal has its links with the prehistoric cavemen who supposedly strolled around the banks of Godavari. There are many temples and sacred places for the followers of Jainism all over the district.
Warangal is also on the list of the 250 most backward districts that right now runs on funds. The area of the district is roughly about 12846 sq km with a population of 3522644 individuals. Due to the connections with prehistoric times and the innumerable sacred places and temples all over the district, Warangal was recently given the status of World Heritage Region By United Nations.
