Rangareddy District previously known as K. V. Rangareddy district was formed in the year 1978. The district is the result of the trimming done to the Hyderabad District. With just an area of 7493 sq km, Rangareddy district holds a massive population of 35 lacs individuals approximately. The district finds itself covering the whole boundary of Hyderabad district. The city of Hyderabad also acts as the main administrative city for the Rangareddy district. With the small size and a huge population to feed, the district finds itself staring at the list of 250 most backward district of India. The district does not have a great prospect with agriculture. It has a few industries but that is not enough to feed the whole population. The district currently is running dependent on the funds that are being supplied under the Backward Regions Grant Fund Program. Osmania Sagar is a prime tourist attraction and at the same time a source of drinking water to the district of Rangareddy and Hyderabad.
