The district of Karimanagar is located to the north western region of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Karimanagar accommodates a population of 3811738 individuals along an area of 11823 sq km. The district is bordered by the districts of Adilabad, Wrangal, Meddak and the states of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The local people of the district are often referred to as The ‘Telengana’. The region has a glorified past when the region was the prime sector of the Satavahna Empire. Later on the glory was restored by the Nizams who ruled the place.
Karimanagar also like Anantapuram finds its place in the 250 most under developed districts of India out of the total of 640 districts. The district literally runs on the Funds given to it by the Backward Regions Grant Fund programme.Something that really points out to the bad condition of Karimanagar is that it has a male to female ratio of 1009 females to 1000 males. Karimanagar has two feathers attached to it degraded crown: Late Justice N Kumarayya, an ex – judge at the World Bank and Late P. V. Narasimha Rao, former Prime Minister of India.
