The district of Jhajjar is one of the Jat predominant districts of Haryana. The district of Jhajjar has its main centre of administration in the city of Jhajjar itself. The district was created when land was scrapped out of the Rhotak district of Haryana. There is a local belief among the people that the district is named after Chhaju and Chhajunagar, the two people who laid the .foundations of the city. Another section also believes that the name Jhajjar has been derived from the natural water body which is also named Jhajjar. The approximate area that is covered by the district of Jhajjar is around 1833 sq km with an approximate population of 9.5 lacs individuals. The density of population of the region is around 522 people per sq km. The district is furnished with many industries like ceramics, glass, electrical equipments, etc. To give an approximate measure the district has more than 30 large and medium manufacturing units.
