The Mewat district of Haryana was created when land was scrapped of from the Hathin and Gurgaon blocks of the districts of Faridabad in the year of 2005. The district is bordered by the districts of Gurgaon, Rewari, Faridabad, Palwal. The main centre of administration is the city of Nuh. The district of Mewat is also known as the ‘Land of the Meos’ which are found in huge numbers in the region. The people are anticipated to be the successors of the Aryans but at the same time had to embrace Islam during the regime of the Tughlak dynasty. The district covers a land area of 1859 sq km with a population that roughly amounts to 10.8 lacs. The density of population of the region is about 729 people per sq km.
