The district of Firozpur is one of the oldest districts of the northern state of Punjab. The district was one of the largest districts until the division of the district of Fazilka from the district of Firozepur. The district of Firozpur is one of the very geographically distinctly divided districts of the state of Punjab. The district has a low hill of sand in the southern part of the district and small tracts of fertile lands running parallel to the river Sutlej.
