The district of Kanpur Dehat can be very well termed as the brother district to the Kanpur Nagar district. The two districts were created when the total district of Kanpur was divided into two parts in lieu of administrative issues. The district of Kanpur Dehat is a part of the Kanpur division of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The district of Kanpur Dehat is bordered by the other districts of Kanpur Nagar, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Kannauj and Etawah. As the name suggests the district of Kanpur Dehat primarily includes the rural area of the original district of Kanpur. The district of Kanpur Dehat covers a land area of approximately about 3021 sq km with a population of approximately about 15.6 lacs accordion to the census of the year 2001. The district of Kanpur Dehat has a population density of approximately 146 people per sq km of the total administrative area of the district.
