The district of Kaushambhi is one of the important parts of the Allahabad division of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The district of Kushambhi has its main centre for the control of administration in the city of Manjhanpur itself. The district is of great historical importance to the state because of the abundant links that the land has with the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. Many excavations in Kushambhi have lead to many discoveries of artefacts which are at the Museum of Allahabad. The district was created from the divided lands of the district of Allahabad.
