The kdistrict of Kurnool is found in the Central – western part of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The district is located on the banks of the River Tungabhadra. The City of Kurnool is the head Quarters of the district. There is a lot of History that surrounds the district of Kurnool. There are traces of Palaeolithic History that has been found pout by Historians. The District also has some profound connections with Buddhism and Jainism. The Archaeological Survey of India is working in many places all around the district. The district has two small mountain ranges that run parallel through the district. As a result, the district is not agriculturally productive. Black Soil is found in abundance in the district which enables Cotton to grow in the region. The district is also crossed by two rivers: Krishna and Pennar. Previously Kurnool was also in the list of the most backward districts but the district has led itself to self – development and is now counted as one of the growing districts of Andhra Pradesh. The district also has quite a few tourist attractions like Nallmala Forest, Belum Caves, Kethavaram, etc.
