The district of Dahod of the state of Gujarat is also known as the district of Dohad. The district is called the Dahod districts because the main administrative centre of the district is the city of Dahod. The district of Dahod was created in the year of 1997 when it was scrapped off from the Panchmahal district. The districts is bordered by the districts of Panchmahal, Chhottaudepur (Madhya Pradesh), South Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh), Alirajpur (Madhya Pradesh) and Banswara district of Rajasthan. The district is highly underdeveloped. The Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb was born in a Mosque in this region. The district covers a land area of 3642 sq km. The population that the district supports is approximately 21 lacs individuals with a density of population around 600 individuals per sq km. The district is in the list of the 250 most Backward districts of India and depends a lot on the funds provided by the Indian Government under the Backward Regions Grant Fund Program.
