The city of Vapi is the largest city of the district of Valsad district. The main centre for administrative decision making is the city of Valsad which is a important city in context of decision making for Gujarat as well. The district is bordered by the districts of Navsari, Nashik and Thane (Maharashtra), the union territory of Daman and Diu and the Arabian Sea. The district literally opened the gates of India to the Parsi’s. The district also holds a fort which was used as a Residence by Shivaji. The district occupies an area of 5244 sq km which holds a population that amounts up to 17 lacs individuals per sq km. The density of population of the district is roughly about 561 individuals. Agriculture is a very important occupation of the people of Valsad and at the same time the industry of the district is also extremely well developed.
