The district of Junagadh is located in the Kathiawar peninsular region of the state of Gujarat. The district is located in the western region of Gujarat. The district of Junagadh is bordered by the districts of Rajkot, Porbandar, Mareli. The southern and the western part of the district of Junagadh is bordered by the Arabian Sea. The main centre for administration for the district of Junagadh is the city of Junagadh itself. The district of Porbandar was previously a part of the district of Junagadh. The district of Junagadh covers an approximate land area of 8800 sq km with a population held in its borders amounting up to 27 lacs approximate individuals. The district is famous for the tourist attractions it has in the Gir National Forest which is famous for the Lions that it has. A small mountain range named Girnar also passes through the district which is one of the prime places of sacred interests for the Jains and the Hindus.
