The district of Dang which is also known as The Dangs among the local people of the state of Gujarat is one of the rare underdeveloped districts of the highly developed state of Gujarat. In the past, the district of Dang was not under the rule of some great empires of India. Rather the region was under the direct rule of small tribal kings who kept a atmosphere of peace in the region. The tribal kings joined hands to fight against the British which is recorded as the fiercest war of the region. The Dang district covers a land area of 1764 sq km. The rural district of Dang has an approximate population of 2 lacs which in turn makes it the least populated district of Gujarat. The population density is a meagre 129 individuals when compared to the rest of the state. The district receives funds from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Program initiated by the Indian Government.
