The district of Vadodara is located in the eastern part of the state of Gujarat. The district is also known as Baroda. The district is named after the main administrative city Vadodara. The city of Vadodara was once called the Vadpatra, which was due to the innumerable number of Banyan Trees that inhabited the place. The present names Vadodara or Baroda comes from it. The district is the third ranked state when it comes to population in the whole state. The City of Baroda was the main administrative city of the Baroda Residency. The princely state of Baroda Residency comes under the Bombay Presidency. The district of Vadodara holds an area of 7545 sq km approximately. The district’s average population density is 551 individuals per sq km. The district is one of the major industrial regions of India. But sadly the district has seen a downfall in the economy due to many other reasons. The Government of Gujarat State is working hard to bring up the economy of the region.
