The district of Tiruvannamalai district is a land locked district located in the northern part of the state of Tamil Nadu. The district came into being in the year 1989 with the main administrative city for the district as the city of Tiruvannamalai itself. The district is one of the most important heritage sites for the Republic of India. Initially the district was a part of the North Arcot District which was later dissolved after Independence leading to the creation of the district of Tiruvannamalai. The district has a lot of Temples that adds a huge boost to religious side of the district. The district has an area of approximately around 6191 sq km with a population of approximately around 34.6 lacs individuals. The district of Tiruvannamalai has a population density of approximately around 654 people per sq km. The district is extremely important to the district for its religious parts but the district is extremely underdeveloped when it comes to industries.
