The district of Hassan is the region where the Hoysala Empire was at the heights of its glory. The district has its main administrative centre in the city of Hassan. The district is also very important to not only Karnataka but to the whole of India as it has the Main Control Department for India’s Space Research Organisation (ISRO). According to many historians, it is quite evident that the history of the region of Hassan revolves around the Hoysala District and the Western Ganga District. Before this, the region was also under the Mauryan Empire.The district of Hassan covers a land area of around 6805 sq km with a population of about 17.7 lacs individuals. The density of population of the people of the district is approximately around 261 people per sq km. The whole of the economy of the district depends on the Coffee and tourism. The district is famous all over India for its Hoysala Architecture. Kannada is the main language that is spoken by the localities.
