The district of Mysore3 is of extreme importance to the state of Karnataka for two reasons firstly due to the fact that it is of huge historical importance to the state and to India. Secondly the district is also the important administrative centre for the administration of the whole state. The district has its main centre for administration in the city Mysore. This is the region which was ruled by the legendary Haider Ali Khan and Tipu Sultan. The district of Mysore is bordered by the districts of Mandya, Chamrajanagar, Kodagu and Hassan. The district is also bordered by the state of Kerala. The district of Mysore covers a land area of around about 6854 sq km with a population of approximately 29.9 lacs individuals. The density of population of the area is 437 people per sq km. The district is primarily dependent of Industries and the commercial sectors to hold on to the economy of the district.
